JUNE 2016, Session 2: REHEARSAL RESIDENCY, OSU
Bebe, Christal Brown, Angie Hauser, Darrell Jones, and Trebien Pollard meet and dance together for the first time as a group.
First days together: a new quartet grouping for all of us, with time to “just dance together.” We worked to explore a common kinetic vocabulary; "sustaining resilience" was an improvisation score from one of the first days.
Line Up quartet, an early distillation, the first go:
Burned Child maps, in response to David Foster Wallace's Incarnations of Burned Children. We all read the short story (devastating). The dancers each wrote word maps through the work. I’m not sure if and how we will use them but the exercise felt grounding. The dance material that followed contained some of those specifics, translated into a resonance between people/space/time, rather than a translation.

Adherence
Relentless adherence
The clock ticking
Some kind of drone of insistence. The burning of the child does not go away. The detail, the ocean of detail
